A fundraiser receives, an envelope pays someone. The envelope or reserve can receive invoices up to what the fundraiser has received: €1,125 to date.

How an envelope works

Income

No income in the ledger to date. The headline amount, if not zero, comes from a seed amount — a starting point carried over from an earlier fundraiser, not a movement of money.

A fundraiser receives, an envelope pays: the invoices and balance of each envelope are on the Envelopes page. An allocation decision is not an extra donation — it is money already given, moved from unrestricted donations by a dated decision.

What this reserve covers

A campaign funds a deliverable: it opens, it reaches its target, it closes. The life of the software, however, goes on — bugs reported by users, regressions, dependency updates, compatibility with changes to the network. This work has no deliverable to announce, and yet it is what keeps the ecosystem standing.

This reserve is dedicated to it, for Cesium and Cesium alone: the most widely used client, available on the web as well as on mobile, from the historic client to Cesium², delivered for Duniter v2. It has neither a target to reach nor a closing date — it fills up as donations come in and empties as invoices are paid.

The effort that produced Cesium² is over and its developer can no longer be reached. The €1,125 that its envelope had not spent are not lost: they are carried over here as a seed amount, and will fund the maintenance of the client — including the less visible work of turning it into a common good, a repository that several people can take over.The original envelope is closed, its allotment brought down to its €10,875 invoiced.
