Use of unrestricted donations
Unrestricted donations are allocated to existing envelopes. It is almost the only place where the association itself makes the allocation decision. It does so from time to time, depending on the context.
An allocation — an earmark — is not one more donation: it is a movement decided by the association. The amount leaves the unrestricted donations and enters the total actually raised by the receiving campaign, alongside the HelloAsso donations and the payments made outside HelloAsso.
Conversely, the balance of a “dead” or reassigned envelope returns to unrestricted donations, to be available at the next allocation decision.
The 50% rule: an earmark does not exceed half of the target amount of the envelope concerned. Any exception is decided collectively and remains readable in the panel of the decision that carries it — as is the case for the decision of March 2026.
A decision that moves money from one envelope to another, without going through the pool, has no panel here: it is not an allocation of unrestricted donations. It appears in the decision log, with all the others. For example: the Cesium maintenance reserve, opened on 30 August 2026 with the remainder of an envelope from 2024.
Since they were opened on Helloasso, unrestricted donations had remained untouched. More precisely, they served as cash flow during the Ademe grant, but since the balance was paid, this permanent envelope has returned to its level, as if they had not been touched.
The first allocations were made in November 2025, when the 7 campaigns were opened and Ğwish (the automation of envelopes) went online.
Axiom will try out several methods for making the allocations; the way unrestricted donations are managed will be refined as we go. In the meantime, you can be sure that an unrestricted donation will feed the existing envelopes that need it most, in the association's view (emergencies, imbalances, ...).

€7,000 shared out, including €4,000 of allocations of unrestricted donations and €3,000 of reassignments of envelopes from the 2022 allocation circle — the reserve for a "Grant research" salary becomes a reserve for a "Dev" salary; the reserve for the self-funding of the next grant returns to its original place.
